Mental health coaching supports your mental health wellness goals. Common concerns like stress and anxiety, low mood, interpersonal concerns, and more are all within scope for coaching. Coaches do not provide a treatment plan, diagnoses, or support complicated mental illnesses that require working with a different professional or medication. Coaching can work with you in changing behaviors, implementing new coping skills and strategies, and supporting your unique vision for wellness.

Deciding between individual and couples coaching depends on your specific goals and the issues you are facing. Here are some guidelines to help you choose:
Consider Individual Coaching for:
Personal Growth: You want to focus on your personal development, self-awareness, or achieving individual goals.
Personal Challenges: You are dealing with personal issues such as anxiety, stress, career changes, or self-esteem that you prefer to address on your own.
Conflict Resolution: You feel that working on your own behaviors and responses could help improve your relationship dynamics indirectly.
Consider Couples Coaching For:
Relationship Issues: You and your partner are facing challenges directly related to your relationship, such as communication problems, trust issues, or conflicts.
Shared Goals: You both want to work together on shared goals, such as improving intimacy, making joint decisions, or strengthening your partnership.
Mutual Growth: Both partners are committed to growing together and are willing to work collaboratively on enhancing their relationship.
Third-Party Mediation: You need a neutral third party to facilitate difficult conversations, mediate conflicts, and provide strategies for improving your relationship dynamics.
Both Individual and Couples Coaching:
In some cases, a combination of individual and couples coaching may be beneficial. For instance, each partner might work on personal issues individually while also participating in couples coaching to address shared concerns and improve their relationship.

Marathon coaching sessions allow a more accelerated pace for making progress in your relationship. With a dedicated day (or two) to focus on your relationship, you can move forward with more speed and skills.
I integrate techniques from my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, previous experience facilitating Gottman Institute inspired marathon coaching sessions, and relationship coaching tools to craft an experience tailored to your specific needs.
Marathon coaching sessions are perfect for the following scenarios:
committed couples looking to set a heathy tone for your connection, whether engaged, married, or in a long-term relationship
you are looking for more swift progress (perhaps you have a busy schedule that does not allow you to regularly attend weekly sessions)
you are in significant relationship distress - it can cost a lot less than divorce. $1200+ for marathon therapy compared to at least $14,000 for an average divorce (lawyers.com).
you have tried other therapists/therapies, self help books, and more, yet you are still stuck

Mental health coaching may not be appropriate in the following situations:
Severe Mental Health Conditions: Individuals experiencing severe mental health issues such as major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or other serious psychiatric disorders should seek treatment from licensed mental health professionals like psychiatrists, psychologists, or therapists.
Crisis Situations: During mental health crises, such as suicidal thoughts, self-harm, or acute panic attacks, immediate intervention by crisis intervention specialists or emergency mental health services is necessary. If you are in this position, please call or chat 988.
Need for Medical Intervention: Conditions requiring medication management or medical interventions, such as those involving substance abuse or eating disorders, are better handled by medical professionals who can provide the necessary treatment and monitoring.
